Our host family application and screening process goes far beyond U.S. Department of State requirements, so we know our host families are caring, reliable, and thrilled to host their students!

We have amazing students! Each one goes through a thorough application process before their acceptance, including an interview, academic transcripts, letters of recommendation and a health screening.

Local Support


Throughout the year, host families and students can count on 24/7 support from EF. Whether it's the local exchange coordinator, regional coordinator, or full-time EF staff in Boston and Denver, we're always there.

Travel Support


Our Travel Support Team is there 24/7 to make sure our students’ arrivals in the U.S. and end-of-the-year departures are safe and stress-free. We take care of every detail!

Discovery Tours


EF exchange students, host siblings and friends can explore more of the U.S. on our amazing EF Discovery Tours! We have trips to Los Angeles, New York City, Hawaii and more.

High School Camp


EF exchange students are thoroughly prepared upon their arrival to the U.S. High School Camp gives students a fun way to adjust to the U.S. before they head across the country to their host families.

EF program counselors are always there to support students, host families, schools and volunteer coordinators throughout the year. And we mean always--that's 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our teams in the students' home countries evaluate their English level and prepare them for the year ahead. During the exchange, EF staff abroad are also the point of contact for the students' own parents back home.
